December 2024 Newsletter
This time of year can be challenging as we face some of the darkest nights of the year, trudging through puddles, bracing ourselves against the cold grey...
Wouldn't it be nice to escape somewhere warm? Somewhere sunny? Somewhere with lots of yoga and the best community? Here's your chance!
Just a few spots remain for our Jungle Vibes Rocket Intensive February 15-21, 2025 in Chemuyil, Mexico. We hope you'll join us for asana, local excursions, gorgeous fresh food, beautiful lodging in the jungle, and greatest of all-sangha!
Exploring the Eight Limbs
The name "Ashtanga" comes from the words "aṣṭau" and "aṅga," and translates to "eight" and "limbs," respectively. The eight limbs of ashtanga are principles that give a path of mental, spiritual, and physical development. The physical practice of yoga (asana) is just 12.5% of Patanjali's approach to being human, one that many of us are familiar with. Over the next few newsletters, we'll explore how the other 87.5% of the 8 limbed path can begin to shape your life on and off the mat, independently and in community.
The eight limbs:
Yama
Niyama
Asana
Pranayama
Pratyahara
Dharana
Dhyana
Samadhi
Start Your Practice Workshop: January 5th
Join Brendan and Christiane on Sunday, January 5th for a 3-hour workshop incorporating the fundamental postures of the Ashtanga Primary series. Students will be guided through the foundational and standing postures from this approach as a way of establishing a base for their yoga journey. Practitioners will learn the principles of the Ashtanga practice as a means of entering into a daily practice routine.
In addition to the kickoff workshop on January 5th, you’ll have four weeks of access to our foundations programming, where all students will be given personalized care and attention to body-specific details to make the yoga work for you!
This workshop is perfect for those new to the practice or seeking to find a deeper understanding of fundamental postures in a workshop setting.
